Delirium and Pandemonium Quotes: Speculation for Requiem
Hi there! Are you getting excited for Requiem? Do you love pulling books apart to find foreshadowing and deeper meaning? Well, I’ve got a post for you! Below I have compiled some quotes from Delirium and Pandemonium, courtesy of Goodreads.com. After each quote, I’ve added a bit of my own speculation about what the quote could mean. Please add your thoughts and arguments in the comments!
Case for Lena and Julian
“You came from different starts and you’ll come to different ends.” -Delirium, Lauren Oliver
Since Lena said this in Delirium, which focused on her relationship with Alex, you could interpret this as a hint that Lena and Alex will go their separate ways at the end.
“The past is nothing but a weight. It will build inside of you like a stone.” -Delirium, Lauren Oliver
If Lena and Alex’s history is nothing but a weight, is that really something she wants to resurrect? Maybe being with Julian would be easier on her heart.
“That’s when you really lose people, you know.When the pain passes.” -Delirium, Lauren Oliver
Has Lena already lost Alex, since, believing Alex is dead, she started to love Julian?
“I need him to know that I came for him. I need him to know that somehow, at some point in the tunnels, I began to love him.” -Pandemonium, Lauren Oliver
There is no denying that Lena loves Julian strongly. What we’ll find out in Requiem is which love is stronger: her love for Alex or her love for Julian.

Hey all! Anna here. So, I’ve been super inspired recently by all of the amazing quote pics out there related to the Delirium trilogy. So I decided to try my hand at a couple, and, for your viewing pleasure/judgement, here’s the one I think is the least fail:

Delirium Quote – ‘How life works’
Tumblr users continue to flood the social media marketplace with stirring quotes from Delirium. Today, sleepybutterflies.tumblr.com shared a particularly poignant one that we thought was worth sharing:
You know what the funniest thing is about that quote? It applies EXACTLY to how we felt after waiting months for Pandemonium, and it will almost certainly be the same with Requiem. Moral of the story? Treasure the experience of getting to read these great books!
Delirium Quotes on Tumblr
Tumblr has been a great resource for Delirium trilogy fans to date, and we’ve been making an effort the last few days to bring you some of the best stuff from there. We’ve spoken before about how profoundly quotable Delirium is, so here are three quotes posted on Tumblr we gathered for your enjoyment!
The first really exemplifies Alex’s insightful personality (and why — it seems — most fans insist on remaining loyal to him despite Julian’s emergence in Pandemonium). Alex is, among other things, very optimistic, so it’s fitting that he would find hope in the color gray. A pessimist might see gray as “half dark” and an optimist as “half light.” Or to quote the Grateful Dead, “Every silver lining’s got a touch of gray.”
The second quote is one of those deep, psychological fragments that — we have to believe — come from Lauren Oliver herself. In the history of human emotion, there have been countless books and real-life scenarios where people who have sunk to huge lows developed a much greater appreciation for the more glorious moments.
Quick example: I was just watching 127 Hours last night, and there’s no question that Aron Ralston was a happier man after enduring his extraordinary struggle. Of course, nobody should have to go through that, but the idea is there.
Another example: You see a news report that your house was burnt to ashes and freak out for an hour. Then you find out it was a false report. You’re in the same situation you were an hour ago, but suddenly you appreciate your house much MUCH more.
The final quote, like the second, is one of those general morsels of wisdom, but it connects on a more somber level. When do people truly get over grieving for someone they’ve lost? Is it at the funeral? Oliver contends it’s when the pain passes, and notice how she uses the words “lose someone.” She could have just said “forgotten,” but the concept of losing a part of you rings much more potently. That…is why Lauren Oliver is selling thousands of books, and why you’re visiting this site!
‘Find the things that matter’
Here’s a really nice quote-in-image we came across on Tumblr and figured we’d share. It’s such a beautiful quote, and wordnpicture.tumblr.com does its best job to visualize that:

Lauren Oliver really strives to get into the soul of her protagonist, and from within Lena’s mind, we experience a true coming-of-age maturity. You have to admire her depth, which — one might assume — is an extension of the author herself.
