Banned Music and Poems in Delirium Universe

This time addressing the question of banned music and poetry in the Delirium universe as well as the new information of content that shall be available in the Delirium short stories paperback!
Bellow is the question asked and Lauren’s response;

I was wondering what sort of music is in the Library or Authorized Music and Movies? What would the lyrics typically be about? Would it sound like any contemporary music? I love the world in Delirium and I would love to learn more! 😉

In the back of the paperback “Delirium Stories”, which is coming out March 5th, is a list of books and poems that would have been banned along with quotes that show the reasons they were forbidden!

As for music, I think any song that showed Love in a positive light would be forbidden. 🙂

Meet Magdalena ‘Lena’ Haloway

Last week, it was announced that Emma Roberts will be playing Lena in the Delirium TV series. Let’s find out more about the actress!

Lena had always described herself as in between. She said she was not ugly, but she was not pretty either. She is 5’2″ in height and have a brown hair. She described her eyes as not green or brown, but a muddle.

Who is Emma Roberts?

Emma Rose Roberts (born February 10, 1991) is an American actress, model and singer. She is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece of Julia Roberts. Roberts became known for her role as Addie Singer in the Nickelodeon television series Unfabulous. She released her debut album, which also served as the show’s soundtrack Unfabulous and More. Roberts then pursued a solo singing career by recording two songs for the soundtracks of Ice Princess and Aquamarine (in which Roberts starred as one of the leads). Roberts then began to focus on her acting career, the title character in the 2007 film Nancy Drew, and her voice-over debut in The Flight Before Christmas.

American actress Emma Roberts was spotted in Beverly Hills carrying none other then a newly purchased copy of Lauren Oliver’s Delirium!

Lauren at Victory Tour Convention

Lauren Oliver has been confirmed as a two day guest at the Victory Days online convention.

The convention will have interactive sessions and panels and include video conferencing and question and answer sessions with special panelists, group discussions and lecture-style sessions. Victory Tour 2013 will feature Hunger Games, Divergent, Delirium, and Matched.

Victory Tour 2013 will take place on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, 2013. A full list of sessions will be released and sent to all registered attendees as these dates approach.

New Fan Questions and Answers

Lauren has once again taken to her blog to answer some fan asked questions. Here are the questions asked and Lauren’s responses:

Will you be signing only Requiem or will I be able to bring Delirium too? Also will we be able to buy the special edition requiem or has it got to be ordered somewhere? Oops sorry for so many questions I’m just super excited 🙂

You can of course bring Delirium! Every first edition copy of Requiem will include the Alex short story, so make sure you preorder or get yours quickly! Requiem is available for purchase at every bookstore, and also at online retailers like Amazon.

Lauren are you gonna be involved with the tv adaptation of delirium? I love the series so much you’re an amazing author, please answer! -With love Sara

Hi Sara! I get to read the script and give notes, although most of the creative decisions are out of my hands. I’m super excited, though—I can’t wait to see what the brilliant minds in Hollywood come up with!

Lauren Share’s Delirium Pilot Thoughts

Bellow is a statement released by Lauren Oliver herself airing her thoughts on the upcoming Delirium TV series.

Hey all—

Wow! I’m amazed by how many passionate and dedicate fans have reached out to me to express their feelings about the fact that Delirium is being turned into a TV series. I know a lot of you are really disappointed; TV series, unlike movies, take place over many, many seasons, and require an immense amount of plot material—far more than a single book trilogy can provide. This means that as Fox begins to translate and transmute the material, we can expect a lot of changes.

I admit, I was really worried at first.Yes, the TV series will probably change many plot elements of the book. But the truth is, my book, translated 100 percent faithfully, would not MAKE for very good small- (or even big- ) screen entertainment. It is meditative and quiet and fairly slow-moving. Characters critical to the overall series arc don’t appear until Book 3—and some critical characters drop out for all of Book 2. Any intelligent, creative person preparing to launch a series based on Delirium, a series that might potentially last for years on TV, would make changes to the structure of my books, to the romantic entanglements and the pace at which we learn information. I would, if I were a TV writer.

But, of course, I’m not a TV writer. I write books, and Delirium, Pandemonium, and Requiem are my books. They will not vanish from shelves when the TV program is released. They will not spontaneously combust. Their life on the shelves, and in the world, might even be prolonged, meaning that more people will find their way into my world and my words. I’m grateful for this. Authors want their books, like their children, to have very long and happy lives. To make an adaptation of a book, you necessarily have to adapt. This means that the story and the characters might have to change… but also that it helps to change the way that we think about the show. Instead of a xerox copy of the books, where we know everything that will happen, we get to embark on a new exploration of the world and its characters, one that will remain faithful to thespirit and the message of the story.

In the meantime, I’m excited that Fox believes there’s enough interesting material in the world of Delirium to generate a rich, detailed, long-lasting TV program. I have faith that it will be a great show. I hope you will keep the faith with me.

I shall admit that I was also concerned about the adaptations to the book. Of course what Lauren says is true, for a tv series the entire Delirium universe gets to be explored and the stories that we know will be apart of it but we will get to experience the excitement of new ones also.
I had the same fear when Vampire Diaries was made into a tv show and I fell in love with the tv show although it is not solely based on the books. I have an ever optimistic mind that this Delirium tv show will also find the place in my heart and I will love it as I do the books!
Do you have any thoughts on this? We would like to know!

Lauren Answers TV Series ‘Concern’

A Delirium series fan asked Lauren via her tumblr blogabout the concern some fans have surrounding the Delirium series now being made into a tv series and not a movie.
Bellow is the question an Lauren’s response.

Dear Lauren, do not you think that to shoot TV series would be a mistake? Many fans still waiting for the movie. On behalf of them, I want to say that we’re upset. If you are still going to shoot series, at least it does not repeat the fate of book “The Vampire Diaries.” We’re worried.

I’m really excited about the TV series! I know it will likely present many differences from the book—but I don’t think that will necessarily be a bad thing. It’s an opportunity to explore many different aspects of the world that I was only superficially able to address in the series. I know some fans may be disappointed by the network’s interpretation, but I hope you’ll stay open to the fluidity of story-telling and the way that my series will be adapted to a longer narrative!

I can only speak for myself here but I for one am really excited about the tv series idea. My only reservation is you American fans will get it before little old me over here in the UK. I will be green with envy. Why are your thoughts. Are you worried?
